Honey Pig

Honey Pig was my first experience with Korean Barbeque and I loved it! While some of the options are still too spicy for my tastes and I'm not a big kimchi fan everything else was great. I get the wine marinated samgyupsal or bulgogi and they are both delicious. When I eat the bulgogi I prefer it in a lettuce wrap whereas with the samgyupsal I use the rice papers. Load it up with lots of bean sprouts, extra garlic (you have to ask for it but totally worth it!) and the other little side dish items they bring you and it is amazing. Just roll it all up, pop in your mouth and enjoy. I like to save my mushroom for last! Then at the end they offer fried rice with whatever is left on the grill. So delicious, definitely say yes when they ask. At the very end they also bring a bowl of doenjang jjigae to share and it is delicious. But VERY hot when first served so be careful!

Ru San's

I went to Ru San's not really knowing what to expect but the average American idea of what Japanese food is supposed to be like. I was pleasantly surprised to find the food was excellent and while there was a definite American vibe to the atmosphere it was still an excellent meal.

We started off with the calamari which was delicious and fried really well. Then as part of their special menu they had a lamb
katsu which knocked my socks off. Growing up tonkatsu was one of my favorite comfort foods and to have lamb prepared in a similar way was just incredible. I am a big lover of lamb and that poor dish didn't stand a chance! I went back a second time to have it before they took it off the menu but hopefully they'll bring it back some time!

The only downside to eating here is the atmosphere. The location I went to was in midtown and there were a lot of people who were there to get buzzed before hitting up the clubs. So very loud boisterous crowds plus due to how many people were there service was extremely slow. So don't go on a weekend night unless you took some tylenol first and don't go when you're in a hurry! But do go, I definitely recommend the food. The menu is 70% sushi which I'm not a big fan of but there is also a very good selection of other Japanese dishes to choose from!
